Azerbaijani Youth Day celebrated
The event, held at the Academic National Drama Theater, was opened by the Director of the Theater, Honored Cultural Worker Ilham Askerov, with an introductory speech and congratulations to the youth. He noted that: "According to the Decree signed by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev on February 2, 1997, February 2 was declared the Youth Day of Azerbaijan. It is in accordance with this Decree that this day is solemnly celebrated in Azerbaijan for the first time in the CIS and among the countries of Eastern Europe.
The attention and care of the country's President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for youth is manifested at the highest level in all areas, including the field of culture. The Academic National Drama Theater, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, creates opportunities for young people to realize their potential. Young actors and directors work shoulder to shoulder with the care of the theater's renowned artists and achieve various successful works."
After the speech, the young actors were awarded the Diploma of the Academic National Drama Theater for their successful activities in the theater and on the occasion of Youth Day.
Then, the Chairman of the Union of Theater Workers, People's Artist Haji Ismayilov presented the "Umid" award established by the Union to the young people. Tural Ibrahimov, actor of the Academic National Drama Theater, Gulara Mammadova, actress of the Shusha State Musical Drama Theater, and Fuad Javadzade, director of the National Young Spectator Theater, were awarded the "Umid" prize.
